Emily’s older brother and Grandma’s favourite. Successful businessman who could afford to move out of his mother’s house, but in Mrs Fitzwilliam’s absence, he’s stepped up to look after his mother in her old age. Pretends not to notice Grandma prefers him and uninterested in consumerism. Suits him to let people forget he’s really smart. Comparable characters: Uncle Bryn in Gavin and Stacey, Pat in Ghosts.
